Home Video System VHS

Home Video System VHS

VHS stands for Home Video System, which is a recording and playback standard for home video recorders developed by Japan's Victory Company in 1976. Although the official representative of VHS is home video recording system, VHS originally meant Vertical Spiral Scan because it adopted the technology of head/tape vertical scanning. The cassette tape in the home video recording system is 12.65 millimeters wide (usually referred to as the large inch format), and the tape passes through the recording head or playback head during playback.
